Fall Driving Dangers

Fall is the time of year for Fairs, Carnivals, and Festivals.  These are a lot of fun but do present a special safety challenge to the motorcyclist.  Normally parking is done in makeshift parking lots.  When you arrive there is plenty of help on hand to guide you into a parking spot.  But at the end of the day when the gates close and all head for home the parking lot attendants are generally no where to be found.  That leaves you trying to find your way out in the dark along with several hundred other motorists. You have to be on your game to make yourself visible and ride defensively so you don’t become part of the accident that is just waiting to happen.

With the sun setting much earlier many roads that wind around hills or have large trees along the road way are covered with shadows during prime riding time.  The shadows will often camouflage many types of road hazards, road kill, road gators, and other foreign objects on the road.   SLOW DOWN so you have time to react and space to do it in.

Finally, fall brings fallen leaves on the road.   Leaves between your tires and the road = a very slippery ride and possible a wipe out.  Again SLOW DOWN.  Keep your tires on in direct contact with the pavement.

Ride Safe!!!
